hey guys, i just purchased a 1996 328i se 4 door (72k miles). However i am SLIGHTLY disspointed with the acceleration of my new motor? its not due a service yet, but am i just paronoid and the acceleration is a bit on the slow side? or is it expected due to it being a much heavy car?
is there anything i can do? (probably not as its the car and i have driven before lighter/faster cars before)
oh great site i am a new BMW owner and lots of useful info is here
K&N is a good aftermarket filter. If you want more power, think about a chip or another exhaust system (with sport header)........ This all will cost you a couple of hundred euros, but it will give you a much faster car!

DO NOT BUY SPARK PLUGS OTHER THAN STANDARD OEM. I dont care what anyone else says regarding the subject matter. I have recently spent $200.00 figuring this out. BMW ingnition systems are very unique and you can not mess with this. For more info on the subject, read my recent review (in the REVIEW section) on Bosch Platinum +4 plugs.
When I first got my car I thought it was a bit "slow" BUT then I put a stop watch to it 0-60 in 7.9 with a crappy launch. So I realized that the car was just deceptively fast. The acceleration is so smooth and just pulls you up there.
Put a clock to it, you'll be suprised.
