What are some things you can get for your bimmer, that increase the acceleration a bit. When I'm driving my 318is,(4 cyl) my foot eventually feels like its hitting the floor. Then all of a sudden, it begins to accelerate, but for that short time period, the car just stays at a very slow constant speed. What are some cheap but effective parts you can buy for my model E36 that will improve its acceleration a bit more. I have a 1995 318is. thanks

i have a 318 too and i dont feel like putting mods on it is worth it at all, the car will still be slow, just not as slow. easier to just convert it to a 6 cylinder.
but then again i guess it depends on what kinda acceleration youre looking for.
the 318 will never be too quick... If your looking for speed upgrade to atleast a 325 or 328... if not an M3. Unless you put thousands into a 318... its never gonna touch anything else.
Also the 318i engine doesn't make mauch power below 3k, you get decent acceleration between 3.5k and 5kish where it flats out for a few hundered and then picks back up. It's kinda weird but start getting used to it, having a manual does help quite a bit though. A chip is really the only worthwhile upgrade to do to it, but in your case you could also get a chip for your auto tranny which might speed things up. Also your only diff choices would be expensive, you currently have a 4.44 diff and there isnt anything higher that BMW sells for the E36, you would have to spend over 1k to get anything higher and really wouldn't be worth it.
hi i have a '97 316i and have tha same problem over the weekend i put a brand new clutch kit and replaced the pump (secondhand) but i still cant get that acceleration that makes your tires spin and pushes you back into your seat, am i expecting too much from this can, my friend says if a bimmer cant spin then it has a problem
go figure.......
