About how much for AC Compressor

I just put my 1995 318ti up for sale and now it looks that the AC compressor needs to be replaced. I need to have some idea how much this part cost so that I can price the car accordingly... one of those as-is or fix it and sale.

I just had the compressor and receiver-dryer replaced in my '97 328I (they need to be done together) at the dealer. $1400.

I have my 318ti up for sale and would you know it, the first guy to check it out noticed a sound when he turns on the AC. The mechanic (where it is currently parked for viewing) thinks it needs to have the compressor replaced.
So now you are telling me that my $4,700 car is now worth $3,300.

hey your not alone, my AC is acting up too. It wont.. well.. Work.

The service center charged me 300$ to DIAGNOSE it, and some deal more to fix it (not sure what it was or what they fixed) but I used it for another week before it became winter and died again when it wasn't even used over the winter. Great.

Anyone have a few good sources for remanufactured AC Compressors... there's got to be a cheaper yet quality replacement.
