97 528i engine work in a 98 328is

Anybody happen to know.......I've got a 98 328is with a bad head gasket and am wonder if a 97 528i engine will fit? any modifications needed?

honestly I think it can work. Someone correct me if im wrong but I believe that these both have the obd1 engine .H

appear to be swapable

Thanks, I checked with a salvage yard and a mechanic both said it should be the same possibly intake difference. I was confused because I use car-part.com as a source and a reference and it didn't show them under the same listing which is why I was confused.

Yeah I think the intake manifold is slightly different. It always seemed to be a little narrower on the e36 than the e39.
