Fold down your seats, take off covers from the side panels and then you will be able to remove rear deck.

if you do not have fold downs, you need to remove the lower seat cover by pulling up on it at the corners. To remove the rear upright portion, give it a good tug and it will pop out too. If it has never been removed there will be two bolts also holding it in place behind the seatbelt clip. Once the rear seat portions are out, remove the headrests (if equipped) and the pillar trim. Then undo the 4 retaining pins and the rear shelf slide out.

When I fold down my rear seats, there's still part of the seat (the part towards the doors) that stay up and overlap the rear deck -- the sides do not fold down -- Do I need to take out the seats?? Or how else would the rear deck slide out if those two sides of the seats stay up??

why do you need to remove the deck? If it is for speaker access you don't need to remove it.

to remove these sides that don't fold down, just pul them towards front from the top until it pops out from the clip, then pull it up and you're done.
