So here's the deal... My radiator hose fell off the radiator and dumped into my CAI. this threw a MAF code and made me pull over at which point the car would not run until I dried everything out. There is still a MAF code that needs to be cleared but the engine runs fine. Code is P0101.
When I did get the car running, the auto tranny, in any mode (D, 3, M) will shift hard any time the tranny moves from 2nd to 3rd, or from 3rd to 2nd, regardless of throttle position and even when rolling up to a stop (3rd to second). I can avoid the issue by placing the trans into M and manually shifting from 1 to 2 to N to D (or 4th) and conversly by shifting to when rolling up to a stop N then to 1 when stop completed. Problem is ONLY between 2 and 3 and trans temp does not make a difference.
I can't imagine that the coolant issue and tranny problems are related, but maybe I'm wrong? The trans was fine until I cleaned my engine with radiator fluid.
1997 328i with a 4 speed auto. I replaced the tranny fluid and filter 2 months ago and have at least 1500 miles on it trouble free. I have not checked the fluid, but wanted to see if someone else had a similar issue in the mean time.
