96 BMW 328i Transmission - BMW Forum

First off, Hello i'm Tyler and i just rencently purchased my first BMW. Its a 1996 328i (love it but it has a problem).

Now for the problem. I just had the automatic transmission rebuilt because it had no 3rd or 4th gear and would just act like it was in neutral when it was time for the 3rd gear to kick in.

now after getting it back from the shop the transmission is slipping. Sometimes it will shift through all gears so smooth, other times it will pick up 3rd gear and then rev up (likes its in neutral) for a second then pick up 4th gear.

Wat else could it be?

Have the tranny controller computer and the torque converter been checked?

The computer has not been checked (there are no indication lights on) and the torque converter was replaced when the transmission was rebuilt

I'd take it back to whoever "fixed" it and have them deal with it. Doesn't say much for their work if they don't try and resolve the problem.
