96-99 m3 engine upgrades

hi,
im new to the forums but im getting into the beamer tuning scene and i have a cosmo black m3 and i was wondering what upgrades i should get im going to spend about 2 grand and want to haev around 280-300 horsepower. Ive been looking at new cams and some software and intake to maych and a new hfm but im not sure if the hfm is just like the m50 manifold conversion kit i just wanna some bang for m y buck so please help me thank you
