How long, on average, do the clutches last in these cars. It currently has 78,000 miles on it.

If you really really really really wanted to perform preventive maintenance you could replace it.

Other than that, there is no reason to. I have had BMW owners tell me they have gone 150K on the origional clutch and that is coming from one guy I know drives his car like it's stolen!!

my original lasted 102k. My parents had an Isuzu trooper and the clutch lasted 190k and it was still in good shape
