96 328i convertible top problem - BMW Forum

I am having a problem with my convertible top on my 96 328I. It is the semi-automatic. The top will not go down automatically. I can manually lower the top, and then it will go back up automatically just perfect. I have re-synched it many times, to no avail. I think it could be one of two problems: either the control module needs replaced, or I notice the window central control switch will not lower the windows, but it will raise the windows. I wonder if this could be causing a synchronization problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you...this is my first time posting and have just spent quite awhile looking through the threads, but have been unable to find a solution.

Did you re-synch if after manually pulling the lever under the seat and manually putting the top down first? I had to do mine like 20 times to get it right. Also theres a vid on YT by millertimebmw that shows you exactly how to do it, if it still doesnt work, i would say its one of the lil microswitches

staceyrenee, yes, I did re-synch after pulling the lever. Maybe not 20 times, but pretty close. I watched the video, which was very helpful, but the problem still exists. I guess I may have to end up going to a dealer to diagnose. Thanks for the response!
