i have a 1996 328i convertible and i cant get the lid to open. the top will go down but stop because the lid wont open to allow the top to fold in underneath. i went under the seat pulled the lever to disengage the motors, but the lid is still locked shut. it wont budge, and i dont wanna pull on it too hard because i might end up breaking it. any ideas on how to get this thing open?

1st off................. Welcome to the Werkz..........
i actually watched that video when i first had this problem lol. i pulled the emergency disengage handle under the seat, and i realized that it disengaged the covertible top motor, but not the lid motor. the lid motor was a little stuck and i went in the trunk and pushed it off to disengage it. i got the lid open and put the top down, but when i go to close the top, the lid locks into place, but will not unlock and i have to repeat this whole procedure. any ideas? maybe mf175 has the same problem with the sticky lid motor.
When I pull the lever both motors disengage OK but the lid does not pop open. I have never managed to drop my roof on auto or manually since I bought the car 3 weeks ago and it's pissin me off. The boot lock was busted and a micro switch was hanging around...I'm wondering if this could be stopping the auto cycle as the control box probably thinks the boot is open???? I should still be able to drop the roof manually though but haven't managed to do so yet.
