| 95 318ti motor in 93 318is chassis??? Okay first off im coming from sr20forums.com Originally a nissan man but im helping my brother out since he decided the throw a rod out the block. So far i have noticed bmw is very complex with there stuff.
So on to the issue at hands. So after searching for the motor i have come to find out they made the 318i/is motor from 93-95 but each year was different and im taking 94-95 got the M44 intake mani? Well i picked up a motor that was from a 95 made in 8/95. Its 318ti motor with complete wiring harness and m44 mani. Now my first thought was that the wiring harness might not be the same and needs a 95 ti ecu. But then under futher looks, the wiring harness is almost the same untill it comes to the coils. On the 93 is motor it has 4 plugs for the coil pack and on this 95 ti motor it has one connector. It appears to be all in one coil pack. Now my question is, if i get that coil pack will i be able to hook it and it work right off a 93 ecu, or are the volatges different since its a different pack and since both connectors share the same pin pattern witht the ecu's i have be ok for them. I mean really the m44 has the same injectors as the m42 so thats the same. Same connectors (and sensors) on the intake mani just different positions. Also the ews service thats in the car not on the wiring harness correct? I looked at the wiring harnesses...93 compared to 95 and there almost identical excepts some of there locations.
I guess what im asking overall is can the 95 ti motor be put in the car using 95 harness and 93 ecu thats in the car or do i need to swap manifold and harness to motor to make it work.
Thanks in advance.
