95 318i gross polluter runs good?

hello I'm new to the site I recently traded for a 95 318i 5 speed it needed some work and still does apparently after my recent smog check. it was high on everything 15mph hc max is 85 meas 370, co max .34 meas .76, no max 486 meas 2838, 25mph hc max is 35 meas 229, co max .33 meas .50,no max 502
and meas 1751. with these numbers I would have expected some black billowing smoke coming from the tail pipe but the car seems to run well... for a gross poluter

some back ground about the car I got it previous owner said the afm and the clutch slave was bad I changed both, I got a new afm with the same part & new air filter. I've done an oil change new plugs old ones didn't look flooded a lil build up though 30000 miles on them went to the bosch +4's , I replaced the o2 sensor with a new bosch one , new tps again same factory part #, replaced all the small vacuum lines because they were dry rotted crumbling away. Ive removed and cleaned the throttle body. I've also done the tensioner and pulleys.Charged the a/c even a dreaded door handle (pita)...... I even put in a cheap $30 ebay short shifter I had the weld/lengthen to fit( but it feels great)

So here the question I haven't forced the car to learn by taking a batt cable off how are these cpu or dme's about learning could this be the problem? Smog guy says probably an injector stick open or?, I've looked at some rebuilt ones as after 200000 miles I could probably use some either way and I was thinking fpr? what do you think? I didn't think I had any codes but there was a 1222 (light wasn't on) Any help would be greatly appreaciated

If its that bad, the Cats may be gone, but hard to say. BUt you got code 1222 through the stomp test?

correct, yesterday I disconnected the battery to try and get it to learn with all the replaced stuff and even Idling in my driveway before I left it through the code. I know its learning though because the way its running now that I disconnected the battery.

well I reset the battery now I get the code/check engine light after it idles a while. I ordered a set of injectors and a magna flow carb legal cat. we'll see what that does.

since I've removed the battery cable and forced it to relearn it now has a check engine light after idle for any periods of time. it runs fine though. I just got my brothers 5 gas analyzer for the modis so I going to take some readings in current state and then swap out the injectors and check/ swap the fpr as well. this will give me a chance to double check all the hoses when I pull the upper plenum. I also want to check the ccv/pcv and clean out my iac valve. hopefully I find something. I got a new magnaflow cat/ and a new muffler to put on once I make sure its running right. any help or thought would be greatly appreciated. at least now Its trowing a code so I have something to work from. I'm going to play with the modis some more and see if I can get some live data, I'm pretty good with the snap-on scanners but then they trough the European software in there and I get lost.....

OK, those numbers may say several things. Lots of O2 with low CO2 may mean no oxidation in the CAT. You will want to do either a CO2 cranking test or an intrusive test with a 5 gas analyzer to see if the cat(s) are working. You said you installed a new O2 sensor. Did you check it for response? You will want to do a propane enrichment test to make sure the fuel control system is actually in control and the O2 sensor is working correctly. High 02 and low CO2 may also mean a low cylinder or cylinders but you said it feels OK so there may not be a high chance of this. Your HC and NOx numbers are really high with CO not much of a problem so you may need to find a good BMW indy that knows their stuff as you may have several things going on. Good luck.
