94 e36 trouble code 1444 - BMW Forum

gentleman,

i did the manual trouble code check and only got code 1444 over and over and over and over and over....(you get the point), the 1000 code i need to erase the memory does not show up

is this a clear sign that my DME is out and confused? the car starts with this DME, it's just that it's dumping fuel like there's no tomorrow and a lot of smoke is coming out (white smoke)

white smoke Mmmmmmmmm............

one of two: head gasket but , dumping fuel, PCV valve, you havent said, apart from the fuel and smoke , how is it running???

turned out dme was confused, got a used one from ebay for $170 and CEL was off and did the manual obd check and no codes came out...

the white smoke was probably fuel all over the intake and exhaust burning up (the car starts with the faulty DME, but dumps fuel like no tomorrow from the smell of it), ran it with the ebay dme for about a day (can't imagine how much fuel and water in those pipes), and the smoke's gone....

cleaned ICV and MAF, slapped a CAI, new performance injectors, and bavauto chip (pretty good chip, came with the ebay dme,can't complain...) and car is running excellent...very happy

should i bring it to a tuner shop to fine tune everything?
