'94 318ic dash/instrument lighting not working

The lights on my dash (particularly the speedo, odometer, fuel gauge), instrument panel, and window controls do not work. They have come one once in the last month randomly but stopped 1 day later. The instruments themselves work, just the backlights on them do not. fuse problem? wiring problem? IDK. This makes night driving and avoiding speeding tickets a hassle ...thoughts comments answers???

Its going to be a wiring issue, probably a broken wire or bad or corroded connection that makes contact occassionally. Depending on your skills you should be able to track back the issue with a multimeter, but if your not sure about the process, take it to an auto electrician and they should be able to resolve the issue in an hour two. It will be cheaper than your first ticket.

Nate, pull the cluster out. Behind the gauges are the bulbs that illuminate them. Check to make sure the connectors are secured and their is power to them and replace the bulbs if nessecary.
