Question '94 318i loosing water??

Hi,
My '94 M42 318i appears to be blowing water (coolant) out the exhaust. I don't see any blackening of the remaining water or see any water in the engine oil? Could it still be a head gasket? What else could it be? Is there another way that it could be getting to the exhaust? I'll pull the plugs tomorrow and see if there's a difference between them? Are head gaskets or anythung else that could cause this a common problem for these engines?

Thanks,

I'd say the head gasket is the more likely. Is there oil in the coolant or coolant on the bottom of the oil stick?

No water in the oil or oil in the coolant. No white deposites.

All spark plugs look the same. As background the car sat for six months or more before this. No external leaks. I've marked coolant level to see if it as moved when it cools down. Coolant also looks clean?

Are you absolutely positive it isn't just condensation? Water dripping out of the exhaust pipe is a sign of a healthy engine.

It is a nice thought and I still have hope. It does seem like an awfull lot though. I've been for a short drive but nothing long. Could the muffler be half full? I've collected about two cups already and there's a rusty line from the exhaust in my driveway where I moved the car.
