93 BMW 325I Drivers Window Problem

a couple months ago my window regulator arms broke. purchased a regulator from a junk yard and when I installed it, the window will go up and stop about 1/2 inch from the top and will not go any more. When I lower the window, the window goes about 1/2 lower than what it should (comparing it to my passenger side window). The window sliders almost fall out when the window has reached the lowest point. Any ideas on what can be wrong?
