92-96 325i European model (UK)

Hello all, been a while since i posted on here since selling my old 318i! (moving house = need money )

Well im now in a position to buy another one, and this time im gonna go for a 6 pot, more than likely a 325i (to avoid the nikasil problem on the 328i/323i engines in the UK)

What im asking is, as i cant seem to find the right info anywhere for UK models, is there any difference between the engines from 92 to 96? (i read somewhere that until late 93 the 325i engines didnt have VANOS, whether thats for UK or USA or not i dont know)

Also is there anything specific to the 325i that should be looked at while inspecting the car before purchase? (or is there anything specific to the 325i that goes wrong other than the usual suspects, ball joints yada yada)

Hope someone can help as you often did before!

Clint

Here we go again about the nikasil. I doubt it's that much of a risk.

AFAIK from 92 and on there are Vanos, but it's easy to see on the engine.

There just the common things, does it leak, how does it run idle, oil consumption, check the oil cap etc.

Get an expert to check the subframe.

Maybe it is maybe it isnt, im just going on what ive read about the Nikasil! Cant really do much else.

Obviously if the right 328i cropped up that had had the new engine put in, then theres no problem

I might end up plopping for a 320i anyway, company here in the UK which offers a chip for the 320i to take it to 196bhp and that will be very insurance friendly. (wont tell them about the chip)

Who knows ill see whats about at the time, i will definatly get a professional to check the subframe out though, cheers for the help
