'92 325i What Should Be My First Improvement?

Purchased a '92 325i 5 speed w/150k miles. Everything appears to be stock. What should be my first upgrade to improve performance. I am currently experiencing sluggish acceleration between 2-3k rpm's. I am looking to replace O2 sensor.

So far I have "Let It Breath" and "Chip". I'm frugel to say the least and hate to spend more than I have to. Are the inexpensive Air Intake Systems and Performance Chips found on Ebay of any value?

Chip should be the last thing you mod, as for chip will read and adjust to your current configuration (whatever you got in your car). If you going to put anything else in your car after "chipping", the computer have a good chance to missread your hardware and you wont have a full performance.

List:
Stage I

1. CAI
2. Exhaust
3. Suspension (do it right)
4. Brakes
5. Wheels (if needed)
6. Clutch (Light flywheel)
7. Short Shift
8. Chip ( this one will be changed when you go to stage II)
9. Inrettior/Exterrior - so you dont lose a "Cool factor".


Stage II is all about engine insights and reducing your car weaight. (i wont go deep in it at this point).

if your frugal i would say dont mod...because i started with a chip...then i ended up doing a motor swap...now im going turbo sometime this summer once my ankle heals up and i can start working on my car.
