Hi I have a donor 92 325i engine and transmission e36 body style. Wondering if there would be an issue putting it in place of a 94 325i with tranny. Would there be any performance downfalls and what would be the major issues with this swap if even possible. also is seems as though as the donor has been rebuilt but will check further on it if possible any help advice or thumbs up or somthing would be greatly appreciate it if theres an article over this a link would be helpful also thanks in advance
The 92 is a non-vanos engine and probably won't have quite the top end performance as 94 vanos engine did but won't be that noticable. The switch will work just fine as long as you switch the engine and transmission "brain" boxes as well. I just recently married up a 94 2.5 vanos motor with a 92 auto transmisssion in a 92 325i - everything bolts in and hooks up just fine. The 92 has a little different transmission mounting scheme, just use the rear mount you removed from the 94 and put it on the 92 trans.
