The engine in the 92 325i is the same as all the other ones until the 95' model. With one differance. The 92 325i's were made M50's (I-6 4 valve 2.5L) but ONLY the 92 model was made without vanos. With the 93 models they changed the engine to M50/TU which included single vanos controll.
This site shows what i'm talking about. The E36 325i/is in 1992 only was made with the M50. not M50/TU.

Now, I was also looking into making this a project car complete with an S50 (thats the 95' 3.0L M3 engine) and complete repaint, also replacing all the interior body panels and upholstery.
Apparently the M50 and S50 are the same engine, only one has a larger displacement and a little more work done to it to be called the S50. It's odd how they did that, but it makes sense that one of the AA turbo systems would only fit the 92 - 95 325i and 95 M3. I plan on adding one soon. ^^
So yea. I found that out last night while i was bored. If anyone can add some more info or insight to why it's like that, feel free.
