92' 316i big problems help!!!!! (stalling, overheating)

I bought this 92' 316i and I've had problems everyday with it stalling out going from 1st to 2nd(automatic), it will go all the way to almost 4 thousand rpm so I have to just slowly push on the throttle until it shifts to 2nd. I noticed it looks like the temp guage starts to go up too. I'm in the Army in Germany and I really need this car to get place to place. Thank you for any help.

Any check engine light when the stalling is trying to happen?

Look into your overheating problem first, if its an automatic it probably slips due to the overheating problem. These cars have tranny coolers to keep the fluid cool!
