91 Vs 93 325is - BMW Forum

Hey guys,

I need some advice. I've been doing a bunch of research and am strongly considering buying either a 1991 325i or a 1993 325is. I'm curious if you guys have some input about the pros/cons of each. If the pricing is relatively similar (within $500 or so), what would you choose?

Also, i saw an ad for a 93 325is for sale in my area. It has some sort of electrical problem in which 1) When the power doors are locked, the trunk does not lock and 2) when trying to lock the trunk manually, the license plate light turns on. Does this sound like something that would cost a ton of money to fix?

isnt a 1991 325i an e30? Umm I have a 1994 325i and I had probs with the locking and I got it fixed for around $80 but it was just one door I think..

well. mine sais it was built december of 91. but its an e36 325i. i like the four door a little more. i think it looks a little better, the two door seems a little stretched or something. i duno. its just about the same tho. i would get the four door tho. its alot of fun too

the electrical problems the car has is simply a matter of replacing the wire harness that goes from the trunk to the trunk door, there was a defect on production that with time, the plastic tubing that protects the trunk door wires scrapes the insulation and so you have this weird shorts..

easy fix, just get a repair kit at dealer, adn then a sottering gun and youre good.

also the older the BMW the better, first year production cars always have the bugs that are fized on the later years..
