hey
i was wondering that could u swap ur 8 button obc witha 11 button obc, i really want to have the systems check and tuff thats why, Is is just plug and play or does it require some modifications, Are the plugs of the 11 button obc same as the 8 buttton one.
no it can not. It basically requires and engineering degree or vast knowledge of wiring diagrams and electrical know how. It is not worth doing... There is a guide that is located on someone's geocities account and the guy that did it basically said do not attmept this without the aforementioned knowledge/degrees. It is a serious pain and you could end up messing up the electrical in your car. Hopefully some one will have the link to the site and you can judge for yourself whether or not it is worth it. I judged it not to be worth it.
if you do decide to upgrade to more buttons , i suggest just going for the 18button conversion, i mean you need to get the whole thing wired for an 11button anyways, so you might as well pay to get an 18button done, its not plug and play for anyone with the basic OBC to go to the 11 button or anyone with an 11button to upgrade to an 18button.
It doesn't look that hard or dangerous, if you can identify, cut and splice wires. If you change the directional signal stalk to give you those handier controls, you have to take the steering wheel off, which is a little more hassle because of the air bag. But an average DIY'er should be able to handle it.
