License Plate Light E26 323i Coupe not working

HI All,

I have a BMW 323i Coupe 1998. One of my licens eplate lights is not working. I have changed the bulb and checked the fuse. All is OK. I swapped the caddy with the other light and thsi works fine.

This tells me that ther eis no electrical power going to the light.

I am lost I am not sure what to do to get this working

I have also checked the cables, They appear to be OK, no ligh if any rubbing as far as I can see,

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

<<< correct me if i am wrong... but after you switch caddy and it works, then it is the caddy that is not working... ;)

OK....let me see if I can elaborate on this..........I took the caddy from the cable connector that was not working and put it into the the scable connector that was working and the who thing lit up like a christmas tree...
When I took the caddy from the side that was working and plugged it into the connector that is not working nothing happened....no christmas lights
I guess this tells me that it is not the caddy that is the problem.

Thanks

Had the same problem. After checking for power at faulty light discovered a broken wire at the rubber grommet leading into the trunk hinge. Also noted other wires in need of repair at the same location.
