Hi guys, I am new here and I just did my first rebuild on an automatic transmission.
I recently rebuilt my 4l30e transmission for my 1997 318i. Everything in drive works great, no reverse though. I have been trouble shooting the issue for about a week. During this time I have check the band specifications with regards to torque, I have checked the wiring in the valve body, I removed and examined the internal parts of the transmission again replacing the reverse piston seals.
I am to the point now to where I am just out of ideas. One interesting tid bit is that when I have the vehicle on jack stands, and rev it out in drive a bit, if I quickly switch to neutral or reverse I can emulate the drive gear for about 5 seconds, getting up to 50 mph. It will not do this on the ground though, I guess because of the torque issue with the added weight.
I am just curious if you had any ideas as to why the rebuild has not been successful so far?
