Does anybody own a 328iS? Or any 1997 E36 coupe? Any drivers past 100 thousand miles? Could anybody give me some general or specific concerns they have for the vehicle after the 100k mileage line? I'm considering buying this vehicle, but am not sure if it is practical... I've heard horror stories on the repair costs and maintainence costs! Anyone care to share stories?? Many thanks!!
The maintanence calls WILL catch up to you. You're looking at a new clutch, new radiator, various cooling parts, possibly a new guibo depending on how the car was previously treated.
drive the car pop the hood listen to it rev it up, take it to a bmw tech have him look the car inside and out(itll be worth the money if you are really gonna buy it) and he should be able to tell you, most bmws are fine around 100000, but all cars have lemons. also maintence is expensive but people exagerate
My dads BMW 328iS coupe has 195,000 miles on the clock and its a 1997 model. Its been properly serviced every time its needed doing. Its running like brand new!

as MOST bmws do, dont worry about the car if its just going over 100000 chances are its fine! still get it checked out though
Does the Dealer do a free checkup ? I am about get a 1996 328is.
I own a Nissan Sentra and the Nissan dealer does a free check up and gives me a list of problems (ofcourse they exagerate them; most are just fine).
free and BMW dealership-Ha, you cant say those in the same sentence. They will look it over say it needs this and that and if you say thanks can I have keys they will chagre you at least an hour labor for looking over your car.
I am wondering of I could get an extended warranty on it. Does anyone got it or recommend any.
www.dmv.org has a guide to exended warranty at http://www.dmv.org/extended-warranty.php and there is Extended Auto Warranty Corp who is giving me 3 years/36K miles for $1850.00. Is it advisible to get it or not.
I will be getting a 1996 328is in 3-5 days. It has 90K miles on it.
