328IC 98 vs. 97

hi, i just bought a black on black 97 328IC. I looked at 98 and didn't see any difference first hand but i'd like to ask the experts here. Are there any major differences between those two years?
I think the one i bought has all the otions you can get.
Seat warmers
power seats (drives + pass)
Chrome BMW rims
dual climate control
fully automatic top
6 cd changer (which sux balls!!!)

After looking at Jeremy Walton's BMW 3 Series Enthusiast's Companion (Bentley Publishing), I found the following changes listed for 1998 on page 339. Editorial comments mine...

Standard for 1998: side airbags in the doors, adjustable rear headrests (which are a p.i.t.a. and require major back-and-forth motion to pull up), HK audio includes CD (which you said sux - why? - I liked mine well enough before replacing with a phatnoise unit).

Optional for 1998: keyless entry standard with sport/premium packs

That's about it, from what I can read. Note that leatherette became standard (vs leather) on the 'vert in 1997. The leather option added wood trim, and in '97 the onboard computer became a stand-alone option.

Now that you've got it, are you going to "play" with it? I've just got the modding bug and swapped to 17" rims (a must - can really tell the diff), added mudflaps (b/c the 17's were tossing up too much grit), and this week added a performance cool-air intake (and can tell the difference). Toying with a chip mod. And trying to find a hardtop...

how do i know if mine is leather or that fake stuff? I have the onboard computer that gives me mpg, temp and all bunch of other stuff that'/s kindof cool.
I don't think i have the wood trim on mine. I'm out of state so i can't remember.
Also, for some reason my steering wheel doesn't tilt. I got all these features on my car but no tilt steering wheel?
I looked under the steering wheel where there's suppose to be a lever you can pul but there's nothing there! Sux!
Also, on the streering wheel, the bmw logo is "ghetto"! Where can i get a real one with COLOR on it?

I think you have to run your VIN to figure out leather vs. leatherette - a dealership should be able to help you.

My steering wheel doesn't tilt either. That used to bother me, but I got over it.

As for the non-color logo, it may be b/c that logo is over an airbag? If so, I doubt you'd want an emblem shot at you when the airbag deploys...
