328i cabin air cleaner

How do I access the cabin air filter for the ventilation system? I know it's under the dash but I don't know how to get to it and I know it's never been changed in 13 years, so it's very dirty. How do I do it?

thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. It's almost funny; they said in the link you gave me that the filter should be changed every 15000 miles. Mine has NEVER been changed, and the car is a 1996 with 189,000 miles on it! So it should have been changed 12 times--amazing!
It looks really hard, but I'm going to give it a try. Thank you again--good Karma to you!
