325is Wiper Motor Problems?

I have a 1995 325is (E36) and recently, seemingly out of nowhere, the motor for my windshield wipers has been malfunctioning.

The wipers will only go on if I have them set to full blast as I start the car -- only if they're on full blast and only when I start the car.

If I start the car and drive around and then try to use the wipers, they wont move at all.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there any way I can isolate the issue to determine whether its the actual wiper motor or the toggle stick?

How difficult is it to replace the motor? Any website suggestions for a cheap motor replacement?

Check youre wiper relay under the dash. You may be better off just replacing it.
On another detail, depending on you car you will have a wiper delay, or control unit under the dash on the passanger side, sometime that goes bad as well.

Motors are not a common failure.
Replace the wire relay under the dash on the passenger side.
On the driver side, you will find the electrical connetor that goes to the motor, unplugged it and use some contact cleaner to ensure clean contacts.
