Can I simply buy a new bulb from Autozone and drop it in or is this a complicated job on a BMW??

If you want to replace a headlight it is really easy. If you want to replace the bulb, it is even easier. Taking it to the dealer is a waste of money.

Open hood.
Locate headlight bucket.
Grasp bulb.
Rotate out.
Disconnect.
Reverse.

Euro:
Open hood.
Unclip rear cover.
Disconnect.
Unlcip pin.
Reverse.

not to be rude or anything, but are u totally oblivious to what your car is all about, u make it seem as if u've never looked under the hood of your car...

not everyone knows about cars, or care to know, (not saying im one) but yeah its pretty easy just make sure when you put the new bulb in, you dont touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers, just hang on to the plastic parts of the bulb, it is pretty easy PM if you need good directions
