325i won't start

Hi all

I have a 325i Automatic, earlier while I was replacing the bulb under the gear position lights (P, R, N, D etc.) I knocked the yellow plastic thing's cover off and saw a spark happen . Now the car won't start at all, the lights on the dash all come on but the starter motor isn't kicking in. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is there a quick/temporary fix? This is my only car so whatever it takes to be able to make it take me the 80 miles to work!

Check all you fuses....thats the selector switch you have somehow shorted ....

How are the fuses? There may be a main central fusable link to look for. Maybe a look at realoem.com can help.

Problem sorted now. The top cover had come off the selector and somehow a tiny piece of plastic got under the metal tracks, moving them up so they weren't connecting properly. An allen key, a hammer and some superglue later, all sorted - Thanks to all for your time and advice, much appreciated!
