325i - A/c Problems

Hi there....


There is a 1993 325i that I am looking at purchasing... There is a slight problem with the air con system whereby the temperature setting thing is fine... But the fan will only work on the one speed and that is 4... so either you can have it on 4 or not at all.

Would one of you wise knowledgable people have heard of this before and/or have any ideas what it is that could be wrong with it.... Also some suggestions as to how major a problem this is and roughly what we're looking @ to get it fixed.

It sounds like You need a new blower motor resistor

i have no idea what that is .... but is it really difficult to replace... or really difficult ??

if I'm correct, I think you ned to take apart the glovebox and replace it there. Removing the glovebox isn't a fun job

Look in hte FAQ for some DIY websites, they have pictures and stuff.

actually, not to sound like im here to contradict, removing the glove box can be pretty easy, just a few screws, then its gone... maybe i am wrong.. i dont know

thanx guys.... might just buy it and book it into the local bimmer dealer and let them sort it out... hopefully wont be toooo expensive :P

isn't that the final stage unit and not the blower resister? I thought the blower wouldn't work if the blower resistor is bad. Problems with blower only working on certain speeds is isually fixed by the final stage unit.

Am I correct, or do I have my info backwards?
