russ is an unknown quantity at this point
I HAVE A 93 E36 325 TDS SE AND IT HAS A VAN AAKEN S,CHIP.AROUND 1200 RPM AS THE REVS DROP ITS LUMPY (SOMETIMES BUT NOT ALWAYS AND HAS ONLY COME TO LIGHT RECENTLY) TICK OVER IS PERFECT AND NORMAL DRIVING DOESNT SEEM TO BE AFFECTED ALTHOUGH IT COULD BE.STARTING TAKES MORE TURNS THAN IT SHOULD AND LUMPY FOR A FEW SECONDS AND I GET BLUE SMOKE FROM THE BUILD UP OF FUEL WHILE TURNING OVER I ASSUME.THIS ENGINE HAS DONE 200,000 BUT STILL WHISTLES AND BELIVE IS PERFECTLY GOOD NO OIL WATER USE THAT I KNOW OV I HAVE DONE ABOUT 13,000 MILES SINCE PURCHASE
THE INJECTORS/GLOW PLUGS ARE BRAND NEW AND NO CODES ARE SHOWING .TWODIFFERENT DIESEL SPECIALIST HAVE SUGGESTED THE FUEL PUMP SHAFT SEAL.THIS IS GOIN TO BE AN EXPENSIVE JOB TO EMPLOY SOMEONE ELSE SO IM GOING TO DO IT MYSELF AT A GOOD FRIENDS SERVICE GARAGE.ITS BEEN MENTIONED THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL REQUIRED FOR PUMP REMOVEL/FITTING?? IF SO WHAT?IS IT A TIMMING TOOL OR SIMILAR AND IS THIS ESSENCIAL?COULD IT BE THIS SEAL THAT HAS GONE? I WOULD HATE TO FIND IT OK WHEN ITS OFF.FUEL PUMP WILL BE GOING TO SPECIALIST WHEN OFF.
THE OTHER THING IS THAT RECENTLY THE OIL WAS HIGH ON STICK ABOUT 1000 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE ONE ANSWER TO THIS IS IT WAS OVER FILLED AT SERVICE BUT MY FRIEND WHO HAS SERVICED ALL MY CARS FOR YEARS IS VERY COMPETETENT.SINCE THEN THE OIL DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE CLIMBED AGAIN.iS IT POSSIBLE THAT DIESEL IS LEAKING INTO ENGINE FROM THIS PUMP SEAL?IT IS EXTREAMLY DIFFICULT TO FIND ANYTHING ON THESE DIESEL ENGINES, MANUALS DONT EVER SEEM TO COVER DIESEL ENGINES.ID APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS / WILL BE STARTING DREADED JOB IN ABOUT TWO /THREE WEEKS
THANKS
