Greetings all!

Just got me a 1996 325 TDS, runs like a rocket and costs less to run than my 1300 Opel!

Cruising along happily over the weekend at 150 KM/H I noticed that at about 155, at +- 3700 RPM the turbo kinda 'backed-off' quite abruptly, not knowing the workings of a turbo charger very well, I presumed that because it has lag at really low revs (750 to 2250) it may have a similar phenomenon occur at the end of the spectrum?

Is this normal?

I don't mind if it is, I juat wonder how many days it would take to get to the 218 KM/H top speed if the turbo kicks out so early?

Sounds to mee you may have a wastegate problem. A little door opens when the exhaust pressure in the exaust turbine gets too high. Too high pressure means the turbine is screaming and your intake/fuel injection can't take the excess boost.

Maybe something went on the fritz with the wastegate control and it is opening too soon.
