| I have a 95 318ti with 130,000 miles and a manual transmission. It seems that when I push in the clutch to stop the car either turns off, idles at 300 rpm, idles at 800 rpm with a shaky idle that feels like a miss, or it revs itself up to about 1300 and bounces between 1300 and 1000 for a couple of seconds, calming back down to idle at 800 kind of smoothly. I know this sounds confusing, but the car decides on these things, I have no control over it, and it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes i get mad and rev drive the car at around 6000 rpm for a minute, and when I go to slow down it acts fine. I changed the fuel filter and it was okay for a day or so, but then it went back to the original problem. Could this be the fuel pump? Injectors? Water in the tank? I don't want to spend money on unnecessary parts, but I would like my car to be fixed. It runs fine besides idle, it will occasionally feel a little hesitant, but its barely noticeable. Car accelerates fine (although I could always wish for more, guess i need a 2.8l motor for that). Would anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The check engine light has come on once or twice, but only for a couple of seconds, not long enough to grab a code. Any advice or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks. |
