318TDS E36 stalling... I'm Desperate! PLZ HELP!

ppl, i'm new here and i'm in trouble... .

I bought the car 3 months ago, and the car used to stall when the diesel reaches the 15L almost red space. the car just tens to decelerate the injector light turns on and the car stall's... then i turn the key back and forward the check lights turn on, and then off (including the injector light) but the engine doesnt start, then i need to pump the fuel pedal quick and after a bit it starts. dunno what's going on cause today it's stalled twice with half tank 30 liters of diesel in it... .

The wheather here is normal, the car has 280 000 km's.
what can be the cause of it? did anyone know or knew this problem with other ppl. sorry my english i tried my best.

1) maybe your fuel guage is not reading correctly,
2) you have water in your tank,

and the more complicated issue... maybe u have a crack or hole in the intake part of the fuel line(the part that is inside the tank)... what might be happening is that once the fuel level falls below the crack/hole, your fuel pump becomes ineffective.

check your fuel filter also. this is a new car for you, and if u haven't changed it yet, now is a good time to do that :-)

Today i'm sending the car to the mechanic to repair some oil leaks, and to exchange the diesel filter.

I filled the tank with diesel from another fuel station and it's ok, doesn't stall but i notice diference on the response, so i figure that the fuel station that i went had water mixed with the diesel that agravated the problem...

I have MOT until the end of the month so i'll deal with the stalling problem as soon as i have my hachi ready to roll

so i'll go directly to search the problems that you mentioned. i get if it is the main injector pump...it's 700€s a new one plus hand labor...

Hi there everyone,

Long time i haven't showed up here.

Well i solved almost all the problems in my bmw.

the main problem solved above was simply cause of the electrical fuel pump that is inside the diesel tank.
The car stalled completly and without chance of starting one day so i went to get another pump.

The main pump on the right passenger side had a hole in the metalic filter so... it wasnt pumping anything. how do i know this?

Replaced the pump with one from a british 318 gas e36 and it works fine =D until now.
but not everything is perfect... these days i've been driving it downtown to heavy traffic, when i'm stopped at a trafic light or smth randomly the rpm's start to get down and eventually it will turn off... if i put the foot on the gas it stops... well it's "half problem solved i just have to floor it all the way home =D LOL!" cheers...
