318is I need help to increase performance - BMW Forum

I just bought a bmw 318is and its very clean its a 5 speed manual. I want to make it faster what should I do?

I was thinking of super charging it or engine swap, whats cheaper? i am leaning more towards a engine swap but what engine? i want something i can build off of with a lot of after market paths. I only know the basics to cars.

Good questions, but I can't help you. Don't dispair, someone a lot smarter than me will be along shortly to give you some advice, try to keep in mind that BMW do a fair bit of tuning on their engines, so any big gains are likely to mean sizeable changes to the engine etc. Enjoy your time here.

The DA supercharger is a great way to more than double what you have in the car, only to still be on par with a 328 ...

OP, swap a m50/m52 or s50/s52 if you have the money. Not worth doing anything to the m42/m44

The 318 is the same as any other e36 with regards to suspension and brakes ... nothing wrong with putting a m50 or something in it and retaining the stock brakes/suspension; it would be like any other 325

true, but as far as performance parts go thats the order to do things. dont need power to have fun
