I desperately need help in fixing my driver's seat tilt mechanism. It's a coupe and thus has the release & tilt levers on the upper side of each front seat. The driver's side lever is extremely loose and is not operating the cable-driven release catch below the seat. I ought to mention that it's a '93 model and has no electronic adjustment/lumbar control/airbags, etc.
What I ideally need to do is get the back off the seat but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. I've taken out the headrest and unscrewed the two Torx screws underneath but still nothing's budging. What it has done is make the whole rear seat a bit looser and now it almost feels like it should lift off vertically in one piece.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? Mechanical things don't normally stress me out but this is getting silly...
