318is / 320i question... - BMW Forum

i'm real new to the euro tuning game, and i just bought my first BMW.

on the VIN plate it says that the vehicle is a 318is / 320i...

WTF?

is it both? is it a 318is? or is a 318is actually a 320i?

it has a 2.0L engine so i would assume that it is the 320, but WTF?

i might just be a retard, but it's pretty confusing to me.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes, later model BMW's are not named exactly by engine displacement. Example, the US spec 128i and the 135i: they both 3.0 I6 powered. But the 135i is a twin turbo.

hmmm...that's interesting.

it's making it a little hard for me to get parts for the car.

i'm assuming that parts for either model will work...right?

Many will, but care is needed for anything engine specific.

man this is so frusturating!!!

i think i have a 1991 320i, apparently it's only a Euro model...

But i can't find any parts for it, apparently the E36 body didn't exsit in 1991, that was still the E30!!!!

So when i look up parts for it the E30 body comes up!!! AARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

k... i just bought a 96 320i and was looking into trying to do the m50 manifold swap... i just purchased the manifold tb and feul rail for an outstandingly low price of 12 euro hahaha....
can anybody tell me if this will work on my 320?
