Sometimes on a cold start within or under under 5km will pop from second gear or grinds not engaging up or down shifting. 1993 318is 249376kms

does it pop out of 1st and 2nd when revving highly?

if so, this could be because of a faulty "guide sleeve", if you go and check this shit out at yer dealer my best bet is that they will want to replace your entire gearbox. you dont have to at all.

you have to disassemble your gearbox and replace the necessary parts - the guide sleeve.
