318ic gear problem, plz help

Hello everyone!
I am new to this forum and in need of your expert advise. I have a 1994 318ic 95K mile automatic transmission. I am having problem with my gear not engaging in (D) drive it is slipping... however, if I put it in (3) it work just fine and the shifting is smooth.
you input would be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers,
-MJ

Could Be The Oil Pump Inside Which Supply Pressure To The Vanes Which Engage The Gears or The Pressure Switch Inside The Gearbox, Verry Expensive To Repair Mine Did It Aswell So I Changed To Manual. Much Better Option As The Only Thing That Can Go Wrong now & Then Is The Cluth. Hope You Get This Sorted.
