hey guys, so i have a dd/winter car which is the 93 318i 4door auto...lately ive been experiencing some problems with it..
idle is normal just sitting..but when i try move the car forward, it wont engage quickly and worse is when i try to stop, it feels like its going to stall...
or so when braking hard it just stall...
is it my transmission or my idle control valve? i know one of the hoses is cracked though...any ideas?
I've got similar problems... HAd it in for a proper BMW service about 6000km's ago. At that stage he/she (BMW318i 1994) only used to stall when the steering was turned to the most right or left. Apparently some valve on the power steering that drew in air, but was somehow connected to the engin.
Now however he tends to stall after long drives (when hot - at mid range temps. and up). According to BMW the problem is yet another rubber valve/plug which closes a connection which 318i does not need. The E36 head is used for various models and some of the others use this for compression... When the valve is broken/leaks air the idle tends to "dip".
Unfortunatly I've forgotten the valve/plug's description (name), but it's a very basic rubber plug that can be fixed with tape... If you look into the engin, it's just a little right and down from the top. Find any black plastic plug cracked there - it's it.

Could be a vacuum leak on one of the lines for the brake booster or something similar. Replace the hose and check all the other hoses.
Hey guyz - I'm having the same issues, but for the life of me - I can not find or locate any connection to the power steering system from the vacuum system. Any one have any more information with regards to this?
I have viewed multiple vacuum diagrams online for my car, but none show any connection between the PS and the vacuum.
