318i to M3 Engine Upgrade

Hello, i have a 1996 318i, i want to do start upgrading it, and i thoguht hey why not drop a M3 engine in it ? Is this possible, will the chassis be able to handle it
and what other modifications will i have to make, such as gearbox, dif, suspension?

My car is currently auto, so i think a new manual gearbox would be neccessary!

If someone could let me know whats my best options!

It has been discussed a lot around here...
It's gonna cost ya someplace around 10 grand or more.... new motor, new tranny, new diff, lots of new stuff and labor if your not doing it on your own.

The smartest thing to do if you want a faster car, is to go buy one. That being said, if you just adore your ride and don't mind spending some money you might think about what i did.....

Had a ''95 325is, dropped in a '96 328is engine, converted the obdII system back to an OBDI System (click HERE ), and combined with a few other bolt on mods, I have about the same performance, hp,torque, etc. of a '95 M3. This is not a cost effective project; but if your dying to yank an engine that is the most bang for the buck!
