318i blinkers...

Im in Indianapolis visiting my girlfriend, and today we drove to Dayton. Her right blinker does the "fast blink" thing that I assumed meant that one bulb was out, but I pulled into an auto zone parking lot to check, and all three worked... why is it doing this...?

ps- hers is auto... what the switch to the left of the shifter that say "A" on the top and "M" on the bottom...? I was thinking it was like an "M" button, but i thought they were only on M cars...

does it blink fast (the accual blinker in the car)?? or does the bulb out side do the same thing? and also i believe that button is a sport mode button... i read about it before because i was wondering the same question... but yea its in the owners manual (around 146 i think??? prob. wrong...)
