It looks like I am about to but a 93 318i Auto with fsh & 90k miles on it. I've done about as much research as i can on the net but was wondering if you guys could tell me of anything i should be looking for as this will be my first BMW.
Also, would anyone be able to tell me the towing weight for the auto or is it the same as the manual?
Cheers

I would strongly recommend against buying an auto 318, it's seriously underpowered. Either get a 5 speed 318 or an auto 325. The weight is pretty much the same (auto vs. manual), but I would expect the auto version to be slightly heavier. It may be a bit difficult on the highway if you want to pass cars. However, if your only main concern is fuel economy and you want all the luxury and handling of an E36, there really isn't any other differences between the other models, go for it.
318's weight is approx. 2800lbs.

35,000 miles
I have been driving the 318i auto for about 2 and half years, I have put 70000 km on it (its at 162000km), it drives really fine and the sequential gearbox works very well.
Note: I drive the car very harsh, redline it everytime I drive it. Still works great.
Well I didn't buy the 318 in the end cos the trader fed me a pack of lies over the phone . It was a real dog!! beaten up some with half the electrics not working and the wear on the gear stick and pedals ect. never came from 95k miles, 195k maybe.
Bought a 92 320i today in real good condition for less than the 318 so i'm chuffed.
Q's about that one in new post.
Cheers all
Jon
