318 is idle problem sorted woo hoo

just to let you guys know that the idle problem on my car is now fixed
thanks for your help anyway
i am now back to trouble free motoring
and when the car is now idling you cant even tell that its running
im so happy today

So, how did you fix the idle problem, for future reference.

i found a breather pipe that runs from the rocker cover/camshaft cover to a black cylinder had perished and holed

this was causing intake of to much air causing the rough idle

and was then surprised when i went to my local bmw dealer and found that the pipe that was needed cost only £19 inc vat

i have not got a picture of it at the moment but will try and take one for you

but you cant mistake it

its the only breather pipe that comes off the rocker cover

it then turns into 2 pipes in 1

and goes to a black cylinder near the manifold

Its the breather valve hose. its very common on them sort of engines. if i had mine changed i would consider changing my breather valve too its a easy job just to allen keys under it. i changed my hose to silcone instead of rubber, so i dnt have to worry about anymore
