recently finally bought my dream car. Immaculate inside and out milage 72000 which I thought was not bad for a car of this age especially since it looked well looked after.
Day one first gear seems to jump just before car comes to a full stop (automatic), petrol gauge not working, car dealer has been trying to fix himself for last four weeks but is not able to. Sender unit has been changed but now he will have to change the second unit. Was told by dealer the jumping into first gear was normal!!!Tought I better have the car checked by a friend ( BMW mechanic for 20 years) on my way to see him the temp dial began to behave eratically. On motorway it would move to cold and below 30 miles it started to move towards red! My friend checked the car and after only 10 minutes he told me cracked headgasket caused cooling fluid to leak, engine is loosing oil from the base ( not visible at all from top ) gear box needs changing ( obviously ) and this was what he only found out without doing a proper check. Then took the car to be inspected and this is what the report told me.
Air Con belt cracked, front brake pads require replacing, washer bottle leaking, front brake hose perishing. OSF and NSF bottom ball joints worn, engine oil leeks.
Engine codes Misfire 62, Cat Converter 40, 3 undocumented codes 00001/ 00118/ 00254 Airbag codes ECU power supply. Transmission codes
/ Can engine temp 156, Anti lock brakes / ECU supply votage high 148.
Bought the car with an 9 months new MOT !!!! When I was handed the report I was told the car is a fire hazzard!
Can somebody please clarify these fault codes to me. I love my car and rather try and have it sorted. My friend begged me to get my money back. Car still under 2 months warranty but I know the dealer will fight me all the way.
