316i stalling in 1st

I recently purchased a J reg BMW 316i having driven my wife's Renault Clio for the last couple of years.

On the Clio, when in first gear, you could use the clutch to control the car's speed without the hint of a stall.

In the BMW, unless I rev the engine when lifting the clutch to pull away, the car stalls. Any ideas what could be causing this, or is this normal?

I would say that the majority of people feed some power in while opening the clutch.

If you are talking about balancing the car on the bite point while stationery then you'll just have to be a bit more sensitive with it.

People love nothing more than seeing a BMW stall.

It could be an ignition problem. Let it check by your dealership.

No that sounds right. The 316s don't have much low end torque so you need to help it out and give it a little gas to get it going.
