316i Compact Temp/Fuel Gauge Problem?

Hi everyone,

I stumbled upon this great looking forum whilst trying to find advice with a problem(s) I'm having. My car is a 1997 BMW 316i Compact, the problem is with the Fuel Gauge & Temp Gauge.

When I set off driving the...

1. Fuel Gauge will seem to be normal for about 30 secs or so, then it just shoots to empty (fuel light comes on).

2. Temp Gauge usually shoots up to Max, then comes down to the middle for a few seconds, then just falls away to to 'Cold'


Also, the heaters seem to be a bit odd at times, sometimes they only blow hot air when accelerating?

I'm thinking sensor/thermostat problems??


Does this sound like it could be an expensive problem?


Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sorted! Was a fuse, happy days!

Flushed radiator the other day and added new coolant, just re-bled and seems ok.
